Stoop Stroll & Gilded Age Walking Tours

  • 235 Lark Street Albany NY 12210 United States (map)

Registration is optional but it will provide you with event reminders and help us determine how many programs to print. You can also donate through this registration.

To celebrate the beautiful architecture and vibrancy of the neighborhood, Center Square Association and neighboring Hudson/Park Neighborhood Association have joined together to present a unique glimpse into our city’s historic urban neighborhood homes, gardens, and parks.

This year’s event will include:

  • A Stoop Stroll – residents will decorate their stoops and strollers will be able to view upwards of 100 uniquely decorated stoops – featuring not only flowers, but displaying many different creative themes which grow out of the residents’ imagination. No two stoops are alike.

  • A Summer Market of vendors and crafts persons will be in our local neighborhood park (Hudson-Jay Park) throughout the day, rounding out the celebration.

  • Gilded Age walking tours – See more info below! Please note: Walking Tour tickets are sold separately or in addition to Stoop Stroll registration.

This year’s Stoop Stroll will have a gilded glow. In the summer of 2022 Heyday Productions, LLC chose Center Square and the surrounding neighborhoods to film portions of Season Two of The Gilded Age for HBO. We will commemorate this filming with unique walking tours. Guides will illuminate the history of the houses used by The Gilded Age production and will provide behind the scenes information on the filming of the show.  Pictures of the actors in costume and the transformation of the facades will be on display. The experienced tour guides will take you through the Center Square and Washington Park Neighborhoods.

Tour price is $15/person. There are two tours every hour between 11 am and 4 pm. The maximum per tour is 16 people. Event is rain or shine. No tickets mailed. Check-in at tent at 235 Lark Street in front of Trinity Methodist Church 15 minutes prior to tour start. Tour duration is approximately one hour, covers eight city blocks, and it will be the end of June, so please wear comfortable walking shoes and be prepared for hot or damp weather.
