Beautiful Greek Revival & Federal architecture, ornate storefronts, a gothic revival church, and a chapter devoted to it in a William Kennedy Book. The Pastures Neighborhood holds a lot of history within its 13 blocks.
The first neighborhood to be built outside of the city stockade, the land was originally owned by the Dutch Reform Church and was used as a communal pasture. At one point it was arguably one of the most popular and bustling parts of the city with people from many different backgrounds calling this neighborhood home.
Learn the story of this neighborhood’s past in the company of city historian, Tony Opalka, on this walking tour.
