In the spring of 1937, Marcus Reynolds, celebrated American architect, died an untimely death leaving a residential design project for the Carnell family unfinished. Although his designs for the house were largely complete, he was unable to attend to the build.
Current owners of this stunning example of classic Reynolds style have not only restored the exterior using his original blueprints, have also thoughtfully redesigned the interiors. The resulting interior design is a glamorous ode to Marcus Reynolds, his style, and his life. Moreover, this redesign is able to pay homage to a great architect but also meet the needs of a modern family.
Amazingly this redesign was directed by a first-time designer with a passion for historical buildings and restoration along with the support of young homeowners equally dedicated to preserving the historic roots of the home.
Mary Frances Ford-Ellis of Monarch Hill Interiors will share Marcus Reynolds' blueprints of the house to the talk, discuss the process she underwent to make design choices, show before and after photos of the residence and most importantly give attendees an unfettered account of the restoration process.
