Len Tantillo Lecture

  • NYS Museum 222 Madison Avenue Albany, NY, 12230 United States (map)

This new annual lecture series will take place each October, and we will invite speakers on a regional and national level to speak on varying topics in the preservation, architecture, and advocacy fields.

This first lecture will feature Len Tantillo, a regional historical artist. Mr. Tantillo is a career artist who has produced historical and marine paintings of New York State for over 40 years. The subjects for his paintings span four centuries, and his work is highly regarded for its historical accuracy. Mr. Tantillo will also describe in detail his research techniques, conceptual design processes, and the final creation of a finished work.

As a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, Tantillo began his career as an architect. He uses those skills, and his knowledge and love of grassroots history to select a subject and bring it vividly to life in his paintings. Each piece is intended to take the viewer back in time to the little-known events that have shaped this state and this nation.

Len Tantillo’s work has appeared in national exhibitions, books, periodicals, and television documentaries in the United States, England, and the Netherlands, and most recently in a one-person show at the Albany Institute of History & Art. He is the recipient of two honorary degrees and the author of four books. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Marine Artists, the New York Academy of History, and the Holland Society of New York.

Seating capacity for this program is limited to 125.

All HAF members and sponsors of this program will be invited to an exclusive pre-lecture reception with Mr. Tantillo from 1pm-2pm at the Museum.
