Center Square is one of the most well-known areas in Albany - but without Historic Albany Foundation did you know this area would not exist as we know it? This neighborhood was the founding place of our organization all those years ago in response to plans to bisect the entire area and build a highway. Could you imagine how much character, history, community and homes would have been lost!

Join city Historian Tony Opalka to delve into the founding of our 46 year old organization in this walking tour of the Center Square Neighborhood, seeing in person a collection of our early preservation success stories, with plenty of interesting facts and stories along the way including houses on Hudson Ave, Dove Street, and Lark.
