Everyone knows that the Hidden City Garden Tour affords an opportunity for participants to experience the cool, green retreats of private gardens and courtyards. Last year, visitors explored the interiors of 19th century urban residences -- from charming to grand.

Houses on the 2006 tour include a Washington Avenue mansion, elegant townhouses, cozy cottages, and homes that survived years of neglect and are undergoing renovation.
